Open House Thefts Throughout Ontario

Durham Regional Police recently arrested two Oshawa residents responsible for numerous Open House robberies throughout the Durham region and surrounding areas. It has since been discovered that the two were involved in Open House thefts all across Southern Ontario, as far east as Ottawa and even into the upper U.S.A. These individuals would attend Open Houses and would use distraction techniques, than take property from within the home.

In addition to the apprehension of these individuals, a large quantity of stolen goods have also been recovered, many of which were never reported missing. The Durham Regional Police have asked for the assistance of REALTORS® in locating the owners of these unclaimed items.

If, over the last few months, you have hosted an Open House on behalf of a client, please contact your client to confirm that they have not since noticed any items missing from their home. In some cases they may not even be aware that an item was removed during their Open House.

Any missing items should be reported to Detective Dellipizzi, Lead Investigator on this case, at 905-579-1520 x2766.
